We were working on an interior for an investment trading company in Singapore to rebuild their company and branding image.

One of the strategies we adopted is the 'fifth elevation' in architecture term. It refers to rooftop or ceiling as the fifth elevation.

In this case, we decided to use the ceiling design to engage the passersby.

 

Instead of a flat ceiling, we thought a three dimensionally dropped ceiling might do the job better in attracting attention.

So we started to script it in grasshopper.

Below is one of the scripts we wrote:

In the script, we used graph mapper with Sine function to make the ceiling panels joined and moved according to the sine wave pattern.

In total, we generated more than twenty variations.

We selected some and animated them.
